It’s that time of year again when we celebrate the glorious pancake… aka our favourite day!

There are oodles of ways to enjoy pancakes… are you for the traditional or modern in your pancake needs… flat or fluffy… crepes or American style?
A little history? Yes of course… Pancake Day is a tradition that dates back centuries and is celebrated around the world. It is traditionally the day before the start of Lent, which is the 40-day period leading up to Easter. Pancake Day is also known as "Shrove Tuesday" or "Fat Tuesday" and is thought to be about the need to use up all of the fat and eggs before the fasting period of Lent began. The tradition of flipping pancakes in the air is thought to have originated with the French and is symbolic of the coming of Spring. The traditional pancake batter recipe has changed little, the earliest recipes show they’ve been made with basic ingredients like wheat flour, milk, and eggs, and were cooked on a griddle or a pan.
Today, we’re all about plant based pancakes and love to mix up the flavours and use different types of flour, including gluten-free options.
To be honest we’re more Pancake Month folks, one day seems so… sparse!
