testing blood sugar spikes

i became a science experiment (to prove a point)…

We keep getting asked about blood sugar, so earlier this year our MD, Nadine, decided to quite literally turn herself into a science experiment.

For a whole month, she lived life as a linked-up, data-obsessed, glucose-tracking guinea pig—all in the name of Sweet Freedom.

living life as a human science experiment

Armed (pardon the pun) with a Lingo | Abbott glucose monitor, she set out to see how our products (and, ahem, a few competitor ones) actually affect the body. Nothing was off the table: Chocolate Spreads, Hot Chocolate, Breakfast Syrups, Barista Syrups and even a handful of those supposedly ‘healthy’ drinks.

the results: smooth sailing vs. sugar rollercoaster

The results? Astounding. Eye-opening. Mildly traumatic.

We’ve always known our products don’t cause sugar spikes and crashes, but now we’ve got the proof to back it up. The monitor confirmed what we believed all along—smooth, steady, drama-free glucose levels. Sweet Freedom Ltd | B Corp ™ for the win!

Other foods, though? That’s where things got messy. Some so-called ‘healthy’ choices sent Nadine’s blood sugar on a ride that looked suspiciously like a particularly aggressive stage of the Tour de France. Peaks, valleys, and the occasional sheer cliff drop.

why blood sugar balance matters

Safe to say, Nadine now knows exactly what she’ll be eating—and what she’ll be avoiding like an email marked “URGENT” on a Friday at 4:59 PM.

So, would you dare to track your own blood sugar for a month? Or should Nadine continue her brave (and slightly stressful) mission solo?
